Lighting design, energy efficiency in offices. A Symposium in Colonia
Lighting design plays an important role in offices and office facilities because having optimal lighting conditions has a big influence on workers’ performance. At the same time, people are increasingly realizing that lighting solutions which are designed purely to comply with applicable standards no longer meet the growing demands associated with today’s office and administrative buildings.
In contrast, holistic lighting concepts combine the key advantage of sustainable building use – improved room quality – with better energy efficiency. In view of this situation, Koelnmesse will be holding the first Office. Space. Lighting. Symposium in the Rheinsaal of its Congress Centre North on 19th October 2011. The event’s partners will be Bartenbach LichtLabor, the Association of Office, Seating and Office Facility Furniture (bso Verband Büro-, Sitz- und Objektmöbel e.V.) and Orgatec. In line with the event’s slogan of “Sustainable lighting solutions & efficient technologies”, renowned experts from the areas of planning, research, development and furnishing will be taking part in the symposium to present holistic approaches for ultramodern office and administrative buildings. The keynote speaker will be Prof. Christian Bartenbach, the founder of Bartenbach LichtLabor GmbH. The presentations will be supplemented by an exhibition in the Rheinsaal foyer, in which manufacturers will provide information on the latest products and developments.
At the symposium, experts and professional users will discuss innovative technologies, clever lighting concepts and the effects lighting has on people. In doing so, they will especially address smart system solutions for daylight and artificial light that substantially increase a building’s utility. For example, they will explain how unexploited potential can be leveraged to cut investment and operating costs if relevant energy optimisation factors are taken into account.
Prof. Christian Bartenbach will open the congress with a speech on the “Importance of light planning for office and administrative buildings”. Prof.Dieter Lorenz (Mittelhessen Technical College, Friedberg) will subsequently talk about ergonomics at the workplace, while Christian Anselm (Bartenbach LichtLabor) will hold a presentation on Leds. After the lunch break, Prof. Klaus Daniels (HL-Technik Engineering Partner) will speak about energy efficiency, while Andreas Danler (Bartenbach Lichtlabor) will focus on energy efficient solutions that use daylight. In the final presentation, Dr. Stefan Schrammel (Schrammel Architekten) will use the new Augsburg City Library as an example of the smart use of daylight. The symposium will come to a close with a summary of the event as well as time for discussions.
The event is targeted at architects, interior designers, interior decorators, process planners, building owners and facility managers, as well as at representatives of user companies from Germany and abroad, which is why all of the presentations will be simultaneously interpreted into English. The first Office. Space. Lighting. Symposium will be held in parallel to the second Office. Space. Acoustics. Symposium. There will also be a joint evening event at which the participants and speakers of both symposiums will be able to continue to engage in sector discussions and intensify personal contacts.
